WALK-A-THON FOR LYME DISEASE
.
The second annual walk-a-thon to raise awareness and support for Lyme disease will be held around Lake Burley Griffin, in Canberra on the 17th of September 2011. The purpose is to help raise money for research and education for this little-known disease in Australia. Funds raised will be going to the Lyme Disease Appeal being run by the Karl McManus Foundation to raise money in order to further their research efforts into Lyme Disease in Australia.
The walk around Lake Burley Griffin is gentle, with ramp access to the Commonwealth and Kings Avenue bridges, which are crossed as part of the circuit. The walk takes in beautiful views of the buildings of the Parliamentary triangle and Floriade, Canberra’s annual flower festival, which will be in full swing at the time.
Participants from around Australia are encouraged to have events around their own local lake, river, pond or paddling pool.
If you can’t participate in a walk-a-thon, please sponsor those who can – your help will be greatly appreciated.
